Riccione is a spa resort with a mild climate located in Emilia -Romagna in Rimini province, in an area of natural beauty and lush vegetation along the Adriatic coast.
Originally a rest stop on Via Flaminia, it became a medieval castle called Arcione in the 13th century from which Riccione derives its name.
The small inhabitted structure near the Agolanti castle was enlarged around 1865 with the inauguration of a station on the Bologna-Ancona railway line and the construction of the first ¨Marine Hospices¨. With the expansion of the spa resort Riccione became a real entertainment industry with a solid infrastructure and a good choice of accommodation.
Riccione is today one of the largest and best known entertainment centres on the Romagnola Riviera. A worldly, youthful and lively spot considered the ¨green pearl ¨ of the Adriatic. Riccione and Ceccarini Avenue, one of the most fashionable of the Riviera with the most exclusive shops, boutiques and lively cafés can make for a unique vacation in any season.
