Luciana Baroni
Luciana Baroni, surgeon and specialist in Geriatrics, Gerontology and Neurology, has worked for many years in university research centres studying ways to prevent arterial sclerosis.
As a medical director of the hospital Villa Salus, Venezia-Mestre, in the operational unit for neuro-rehabilitation, her main line of work is in diagnosing and treating neuro-degenerative diseases, in particular Parkinson's Disease (through the study of which she dedicated the book: Parkinson's Disease, not just drugs - the importance of a patient's lifestyle, published by Alcione 2003).
In the year 2000 she became founder and president of the Scientific Society of Vegetarian Nutrition (SSNV), which is composed of a group of professionals that are in favour of vegetarian nutritional habits, it's purpose being to diffuse medical / scientific knowledge in favour of a vegetarian choice of diet. She has written and supervised the translation of numerous articles and publications concerning health, nutrition and different lifestyles, paying particular attention to plant based diets, which form a large part of the content of the society's website (www.scienzavegetariana.it). She has written the book "Choose to be healthy - your health is your choice, not your destiny", recently published by Sonda, in collaboration with Dr Hans Diehl ( founder and director of the Californian Lifestyle Medicine Institute and inventor of the renowned CHIP - Coronary Health Improvement Project - and educational program to encourage the population to adopt a more healthier way of living, carried out with success in over 150 North American cities, not to mention in India, Australia and Switzerland.
She has already held conferences in many Italian cities on the theme of vegetarian alimentation (nutritional adequacy and the impact on one's health).
