Gianni Tamino
Gianni Tamino is a lecturer in Biology, and has worked for the Department of Biology at the University of Study in Padova since 1974. He is also a member of the CSA.
He has carried out studies on the physical and molecular aspects of genetic information flow, on the mutant and carcinogenic effects of environmental pollution and, more recently, on the biological risks from processes and products of modern biotechnology and electromagnetic fields.
He was a Member of Parliament from 1983 until 1992 and a Member of European Parliament from 1995 until 1999, where he followed in particular the Community Normative for Biotechnologies.
He also was a member of the workgroup for the Ministry of Agricultural Politics regarding genetically modified organisms.
On the theme of Biotechnology he has published numerous articles for popular scientific and cultural magazines.
He has participated at numerous congresses and radio and television programs.
He is author of the book "Gene thieves" written together with Fabrizia Pratesi (published January 2001 by Editori Riuniti) and of the book "Genetic crossroads" ( also published in 2001 by edizioni Ambiente.)
